Pluggy Blog: Kimi's Son Quinn
Hey bloggy friends. It's another hot one here in San Francisco - I love it! We are planning to have a little get together on Sunday afternoon with some friends, so I am off to the grocery to get some supplies.
But first....
Do ya'll remember my friend Kimi? She was the one singing "Fire & Desire" with me in an earlier blog post. Well, her son is embarking on a journey to begin a career in music and has just finished his first video. If you are a fan of West Coast Hip-Hop or Neo-Soul, you might like what he has to offer. He has a lot of good things to say, he keeps it real with lyrics that are very socially conscious. His name is Quinn and he goes by the alias "Wordup." Kimi says he has been writing and making music since he was a kid, she is very proud!
I told her that I would post his video on my blog for all of my bloggy friends, including you Clive Davis and Tommy Motola, to see.
If you want to hear more songs click HERE for a link to his Myspace page.
I hope you enjoy. Have a fantastic day Bloggy Friends!
Love Always,
Josh

Quickie Blog: Lunch Date With Nicole
Happy day Bloggy Friends! Today is hump day, and you know what that means, get out there and hump the ones you love most!
Indian Summer has arrived in San Francisco, and let me tell you, it's HOT! Ask my family back in Kentucky, however, and I bet they'd tell you that they would take this weather over the 90+ temperatures with extreme humidity anyday!
I love when Indian Summer comes, because I love hot weather. It makes me feel alive, vibrant and sexy! I love being able to wear shorts, tank tops and flops all day, everyday. Not everyone in San Francisco feels the same way I do, though. Most of the locals act like they are going to melt away just because the temperatures rise above 80! You should see them slugging around like they are living in Dante's Inferno!
Yesterday my friend Nicole came over, on her day off, and we had lunch in the park. It was a fun afternoon outing, especially when we grabbed ice cream cones from the local Bi-Rite Creamery. Soy delicious!
I didn't get much footage, so today's blog is a little quickie. Who doesn't love a little quickie every now and then?
Until Next Time Bloggy Friends..

Time-Warp Tuesday: Sugar Trip Down HWY 1 (2006)
Well, Bloggy Friends, you know what today is... TIME-WARP TUESDAY!
Today's video is of a trip Alan and I took, last February, south on the Pacific Coast Highway. We spent the weekend exploring beaches, towns and places of historical significance like Hearst Castle and the San Luis Obispo Mission Church.
I hope that everyone takes the chance to drive along Hwy. 1. The natural beauty that you will witness will blow your mind away. I have never felt so tiny as I did riding along the PCH, with a thunderous mountain to my left and a vast ocean to my right. It really helps you to put into perspective how small we really are in comparison to nature. The coast of California offers a beauty that is incomparable to anything I have ever seen before. I am really looking forward to driving North when we leave for our cross country roadtrip in October!
I didn't take as many videos as I would have liked, but here is a clip of what I do have. I hope you enjoy!
Until Next time bloggy friends...
Peace.
Josh
P.S. This video gets a little mushy and romantic, so watch at your own risk! :)~

Making The Rounds: Coit Tower
Yesterday afternoon Alan & I decided to make our way towards downtown to finally see Coit Tower. Coit Tower is a huge tourist destination in San Francisco that neither of us have ever seen before. Of course, we can see it from several spots in the city, for it stands very tall and prominently on Telegraph Hill. I was never sure what the purpose for Coit Tower was before, but now I know that it doesn't do much more than stand as a monument to a very rich lady and offer a spectacular view of the Bay. One interesting tidbit, however, is that it was built by funds from a lady named Lillie Hitchcock Coit, who came to San Francisco from Kentucky in the early part of the century! For more information and history about Coit Tower, click the link above.
After browsing around Telegraph Hill we made our way towards home, passing through North Beach and Chinatown. I've been through both of these places numerous times, but I always find it neat that in the time it takes to cross about 10 blocks you feel like you have traveled through two different far away lands!
Here is a short film of pictures and videos we took along our journey. I hope you enjoy. Have a great start to the week, bloggy friends!

Birthday Shout-Out!: Mimi Correll
Today is one of my favorite days of the year. It's the day one of my best friends Casey was born! Casey and I have known one another since I first moved to Nashville almost 8 years ago. I didn't stay there long, but in the time I did we had quite a rip roarin' good time! After I moved away it was a while before we saw each other again. Luckily we are both in places in our lives now where we can get together a few times a year for a diva trip or two. It's a time I always look forward to!
Happy Birthday, Bitch, make it one to remember. I wish I could be there!
Everyone stop by WorldofCasey.Blogspot.Com and wish him a Happy One!

Birthday Shout-Out!: Aunt Stacy
Everyone send out a happy birthday wish to my Aunt Stacy, back in Kentucky! She currently lives in my hometown of Lancaster, with her husband. A funny tid-bit about her that I love to share is that she was actually the VERY first Tobacco Festival Queen, in Lancaster, back in the 70's! Stacy works as the Garrard County Clerk, a position which she acquired through the votes of the county's citizens! She has two sons, one of which she just moved in to UK, in Lexington. Have a very happy birthday, Stacy. I hope it's the best one yet!

Singin' & Eatin' With Good Friends!
Hey Bloggy Friends!
Yesterday my friend Kelly came in from Santa Cruz, so we decided to meet up and do one of the things we love most - go to The Mint for karaoke! My friend Nicole, who you have met before, came along too. We had a ton of fun being silly and acting like divas! I've been going to The Mint for about a year now, it's kind of like my "Cheers." I have several friends there and it's always nice to stop in and sing a song, or sixty, from time to time with everyone.
Afterwards Alan met up with us and we went to one of my favorite restaurants in the city, Memphis Minnie's. Memphis Minnie's is famous for it's scrumptious, down home, soul food! Kelly has been asking me to take her for a while, so I took the opportunity when she came back into town. It was so good!
Here is a video I posted of our afternoon. For full versions of my duet with Kimi click HERE, and for my duet with Aldo, click HERE.

Hot Spots: Dolores Park!
Only three blocks from my front door is one of my most favorite places in the city - Dolores Park.
Dolores Park is a beautiful, hilly park that is always full of life and excitement. From the top of the park you can see one of the most beautiful views, of the San Francisco skyline, that the city has to offer. If I'm ever bored I know that I can usually find something going on there, whether it's a fiery peace rally, a dj dance party or a quiet movie in the park.
Dolores Park is also infamous for welcoming an array of bikini clad sun-bathers when the weather is nice and toasty - lending the nickname "Dolores Park Beach" to a certain hill there. Sometimes the view from that point is a little more than you bargained for - if you know what I mean! G-String Central!
I have never lived in a city where the parks have attracted so much traffic and enthusiasm. It still amazes me to look over the hills and see hundreds of people just lounging around enjoying the day. I really hope Philadelphia has amenities such as these to offer. I sure will miss you Dolores Park.
Here is a short video I filmed - I hope you enjoy!

Time-Warp Tuesday: Christmas @ Dad's (2005)
Hey everyone! I recently thought it would be fun to rummage through some of my old video footage and post them to share with all of you! Thus, I officially declare every Tuesday, on my blog, "TIME-WARP TUESDAY!"
My videos only go back to about 2005, but there are some gems that I thought everyone may like to see! There is no rhyme or reason to the ones I select - it'll be pretty random - so beware, some of you may make a cameo!
This clip is from Christmas 2005 with my brother, sister, father and step-family at my dad's home in Greenville, IN. We always have such a fun time singing, dancing and acting silly. Enjoy!

Short & Sweet: Swimmy Blog - Reeemixed!
Hey Everyone! Yesterday, afternoon Alan and I enjoyed a nice, leisurely afternoon by the pool. It was a really low key weekend, though as you can see from the last blog, we accomplished quite a bit. The weather has been so fantastic, it is nice to have some time off to enjoy it before I leave. Alan, on the other hand, has a lot of work to do before he can take a break. Everyone keep him in your thoughts as he successfully wraps up his last few weeks of grad school!
This here is a quickie video that I made of our pool experience - Enjoy!

Short & Sweet: Saturday Packy Singy Blog!
Hey everyone! Our Saturday was uneventful, though very productive. We decided to further the process of eliminating more stuff that we don't want to take with us to Philadelphia. Alan sure has collected a lot of junk over the years! So here is a video of our morning as it expands on into the evening when we head over to Noe Valley to grab dinner at a place called Pasta Gina's. It's a rather random blog - but that's what I do best!

Random Blog!
Hey bloggy friends! There's not a lot of point to today's blog except that it's very random! I hung out with my friend Allen yesterday and we chilled in the city all afternoon before taking dinner at No Name Sushi on Church street here in San Francisco. Allen is a good friend of mine that I have had since living in Chicago. I don't tend to argue with most of my friends, but my friendship with him is unique in the fact that we sometimes have little (large) tiffs. We always pull it back together, though, and come through as stronger friends! He is a fantastically creative and inspiring person to be around, I'm lucky to have him as a friend. Some of you may remember me being cast in some of his shows in Chicago. He founded a radical, independent theater company called Nomenil. It was a lot of fun.
Anyways, here is a small video I took off and on yesterday. I hope you enjoy it!
P.S. For those of you with sensitive ears - there is a profane word used once or twice in this chatty blog - watch at your own risk! No Mom, it's not me saying it!

Making The Rounds: The Tamale Lady!
Since I have been living in San Francisco I have been hearing talk of this citywide icon known as "The Tamale Lady." The Tamale Lady lives and works all over The Mission, but where to find her exactly is a mystery! Rumor has it that she makes the best tamales in all of San Francicso. She's famous to the locals and even has her own write up, along with countless other restaurants in San Francisco, on yelp.com. She'll pop up at a local bar, maybe she'll set up a stand on 16th & Valencia, you just never know where you might run into her. Though some say she always knows where she's needed most - and that's usually at a local bar full of the drunk and ravenously hungry! I have always been very curious about this special Tamale Lady, though I have never worked too hard to seek her out. I'm not like a huge tamale fan or anything, but I have always hoped that one day our paths would cross.
This week after checking out at Trader Joe's that day finally came! There she stood, as we walked out the door, with her little cart and tamale in hand. She was just as cute and spunky as I could have imagined. "Want a tamale?" the magic words gleefully spilled from her mouth.
"Yes I do!"
Boy was it worth it! When we shelled out our $2, unwrapped the outer corn layer and sank our teeth into that warm, moist tamale I instantly understood what all the fuss was about! Mmmmmm Mmmmm! This lady has magic in her fingers and today was my lucky day! I couldn't stand there admiring her too long, though, before I knew it people were pushing me out of the way to have their daily dose of the tamale lady's delectable treat. They all knew that if they didn't catch her now, there was no telling when she might pop up next.
Thank you tamale lady for being there before I left San Francisco. It would have been sad to have left, never knowing the pleasure of your sweet, sweet goodness!

Celebrity Dish: Whitney Returns
This past weekend Whitney made an appearance at a CeCe Winans concert in Nashville! She joined CeCe on stage to perform their classic hit "Count on Me," from back in the 90's. She sounds great - be on the lookout!! Mimi, I can't believe you missed this!
Check it out HERE.

Birthday Shout-Out: Nicole's Mom, Sylvia
Last night Alan and I went to the 50th birthday party of our friend Nicole's mother, Sylvia. It was held at the Bayside Boat Club, near Pier 54, on the southern side of the bay. It was a unique place and we had a fantastic time. The food was delicious and the live band kept us dancing all night long - they played a lot of oldies but goodies! Being there last night reminded me of days gone by when I would go to parties with my family down near Lake Herrington, in Kentucky. The Tuggle family would be strumming live Bluegrass, pigs would be roasting and everyone would be dancing the night away - oh, the memories!
Thanks Nicole and family for a wonderful time that I will never forget!
Here is a short video clip that I took last night - Enjoy!

Last Day At The Academy
Yesterday was my very last day at the Academy of Art University. For those of you who do not know, I have been working there for almost three years as a figure model. It's been a really rewarding, challenging and flexible job for me to have as I am studying here in San Francisco. The Academy of Art University is a huge art school that offers training in a wide variety of the arts. Unlike many art schools I have been involved with, AAU seems to the most career-minded, helping their students find work in various industries across the globe. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this system and to see myself transformed into a vast number of art forms - from sculptures to cartoon characters! I'll miss the people I have worked with but it is time to move on!
I brought my camera along with me to work yesterday so everyone could see where I work and a little of what I do! Enjoy!

Concert Reviews: The Wearies @ Cafe Du Nord
Wednesday night Alan and I went to Cafe Du Nord to see our friend Pat's band, The Wearies, play. We met up with several other friends from Alan's lab. I was super excited to have the opportunity to check out Cafe Du Nord because it is a rather famous venue in San Francisco. It caters mostly to rock bands, so there haven't been many shows to play there that I have particularly wanted to see - until now! Back in the days of the prohibition Cafe Du Nord was actually a speakeasy, so the history of the place sparked my interest. The decor on the inside has maintained it's Victorian lounge feel with it's plush red walls and dark wood interior. I'm really glad I had a chance to check it out. The Wearies were awesome, as usual, I really think they could have the chance to make it big one day. You should check them out if you are into rock music - it's pretty easy on the ears, not that hard offensive kind of rock. You can sample and buy their albums on iTunes!

House Guests: Paloma's Cha Cha - Cha's
One of my favorite people on the planet, Paloma, visited town last night. Several of us met up at a tapas restaurant in The Mission called Cha Cha Cha's. We had an awesome time drinking sangria and chowing down on some delicious tapas. After dinner we all traveled down the street to a place called Beauty Bar where we continued our merry drinking festivities and some lively conversation.
Paloma just returned from a trip to Afghanistan with the band she is currently in, she also had the opportunity to visit Dubai. It was fun listening to the stories she had to tell about these exotic locales. She plays the violin and has backed up such famous groups as The Eels & Gnarls Barkley to name a few. We met several years ago when I was living in Chicago, I used to frequent a vegetarian restaurant she worked in called Blind Faith. We also had a chance to work together briefly at Chicago Diner before she moved away to L.A. after college. I always love spending time with her and was thrilled that she came to town before I leave in September. She has several friends here from high school so she visits rather frequently. Here is a mish-mash of videos and pictures that I took last night. Hope you enjoy!

Birthday Shout-Out!/Making The Rounds, Pt. 3
Last Monday, July 30th, was Alan's birthday! He was out of town, for a conference in Boston, so we didn't have a chance to celebrate until this weekend. We got up early Saturday and had coffee at our favorite coffee shop, then headed downtown to see The Simpson's Movie - which was hilarious! After the movie we were starving, and Alan wanted Italian, so we went to a restaurant that we have been wanting to try for a while now called Emmy's Spaghetti Shack! It is a really fun place that is located in the Outer Mission. The decor was really funky and fun - kind of hipster. The menu was rather small and to the point but it didn't take long to decide what we wanted. I had a delicious crab & avocado salad, with a glass of wine of course, and Alan had a huge plate of spaghetti & meatballs. Everything was super delicious and the dining experience was tons of fun. It is a small place so it got really crowded very soon after we arrived, so we didn't feel the need to stay there very long. I suggest trying it out though if you are in the area!
Here is a birthday video I made for Alan. He has been very busy lately, trying to finish up his PhD program at school. Pretty soon he'll be a doctor! He is really excited to start his position at GSK at the end of September - he has been in school for a looooooong time! Everyone join me in wishing him a very happy birthday!

Poll Results & Reinactments
"While "Hell to the no" is novel (and perhaps another example of Whit's incessant referencing), this one is practical and original. Not just a nutshell example of Whit's Broadway-esque song launching, it's actually a useful, cathartic way to express exasperation. Use it in your daily life. In doing so, you'll see that Whit has redefined her status as the voice of a nation."
- Online Quote From (http://fourfour.typepad.com/fourfour/being_bobby_brown/index.html)
*Bonus Feature*
Here is a hilarious clip I found on Youtube that is a montage of clips from Being Bobby Brown - It displays several of the other sayings that were in the poll. It's pretty hilarious - especially the first few minutes!

House Guests: Trey's Last Day
Wednesday was Trey's last day in town, we got up early to catch the streetcar that took us downtown. We explored parts of downtown and then headed North to Fisherman's Wharf - seeing all else that was in between the two places. It was another gorgeous day outside, we were both sporting a sun-kissed glow by the end of the day. When we got home we were so beat that we filled the tub so that we could soak our aching feet in hot, soapy water and have a relaxing cocktail! It wasn't long before we crashed.
I think I have said this before, but I had a fantastic time while he was in town. I felt a little like I was on vacation too. It was nice to break up my routine somewhat and enjoy parts of the city that I don't travel to often. It's crazy to think that it is already August, my last full month in San Francisco! I'm so excited about the move but feeling a little sad too. If anyone wants to visit before I leave you'd better hurry up! Enjoy the final video of Trey's visit!
I uploaded all the picturs on my Flickr page - Check It Out!

House Guests: Trannyshack!
Tuesday night Trey, Matthew & I went to the world famous Trannyshack (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trannyshack) party! Trannyshack is a party, founded and hosted by drag diva Heklina, that is held every Tuesday night at a local bar called The Stud. It was jam packed and the performances were awesome - we had a great time. This was a special night because celebrity (or as Trey says "sublebrity) Justin Bonds, from the movie Shortbus, co-hosted and performed. When the show was over Trey and I snuck into the dressing room to meet and snap a picture with him/her! It was a great show and we had an awesome night. If you are ever in San Francisco I highly suggest you check it out! Enjoy the video!

House Guests: All Quiet on the Homefront
Trey left this morning around 4 a.m. It was weird to wake up this morning all alone after I have been in host mode for several days. We had such a great time. You know you have a great friend when you don't see each other for seven years and it still feels like yesterday that you were hanging out last.
I have a few more videos to post over the next few days, here is one from Tuesday afternoon. We shopped a little on Haight Street and then walked around Golden Gate Park. We went to the dE Young Museum, which is so beautiful. I think it should be a definite stop on anyones agenda when they visit the city. I felt like I was in Italy again as I was walking around the galleries - it was great! My favorite part was a special exhibit that was a fashion collection of clothes that were owned by socialite Nan Kempler (http://www.deyoungmuseum.org/deyoung/exhibitions/exhibition.asp?exhibitionkey=717). The collection consisted of clothing from such designers as Yves St. Laurent, Valentino, Chanel, Baleciaga and Gucci. It was FANTASTIC - if you haven't seen It, and you are in to fashion, I think you should stop by. Enjoy the video.
If you are reading Trey (and you better be!) I had an awesome time. I hope this is the first of what will become yearly visits to see one another! Love you sister!
P.S. Check back soon for the results of the recent poll that has just finished!!

House Guests: Trey's Third Day
Today Trey and I walked all the way from my apartment to the Golden Gate Bridge, and oh what a hike that was! On the way we passed through some of the best parts of San Francisco. Once we got to the bridge we were too beat to walk all the way across it, so we only walked to the first tier. I have seen the bridge several times, but today was one of the foggiest. It was really beautiful, I hope it comes across in the videos. I'm a few days behind with the blog but I'll be catching up soon. we've been having such a fun time. Wish you all were here too!
