Puppy Drama. Oh My!

Hey, Bloggy Friends!

Well, we have had some pet drama in our house over the past few days. Saturday morning after I woke up, I was checking my email when I heard a loud scream out of Galileo. Evidently he and Mary Todd had been playing too rough, and he must have taken a claw across his face! Moments later I noticed that he had a hard time opening his right eye. I figured it was only a temporary issue, so we just decided to let it go, to see how it developed the next day. When we awoke on Sunday we were distressed when we noticed that his eye started to appear very cloudy and discolored. It was running profusely and he seemed rather lethargic. The cloudiness worried us quite a bit, so we called the vet to take him in.

Luckily, he told us it was a non-issue. He noticed a small scratch on the top of his eye, that was creating an edema. Check the link if you are dying to know what that means. It's basically a fluid build up, which has caused it to take on that alarming cloudiness. He says it will go away soon, and gave us a topical cream to apply twice a day.

With all this, you'd think the little guy would learn to leave the cats alone - but as we type he is chasing Mary Todd all over the upstairs! They have developed a love/hate relationship over the past few months. He'll chase her around, biting her ears, licking her back and yes, sometimes give her a good hump or two. I don't think she minds it very much, because she seems to make herself awfully available to him. He doesn't bother Abigail as much - she doesn't seem to be as interested in his puppy playfulness. It's neat how he seems to be able to tell them apart. Let's all wish Galileo a speedy, safe recovery. My little pumpkin!

I hope you are all having a great day. My busy summer continues with the arrival of my friend, Nicole, from San Francisco. She'll be spending the week here with us. It's really great to see her again. I'm not sure what the agenda holds for the week, except for some leisurely Philadelphia site seeing and another over night trip to NYC! I'll keep you updated, as usual.

Have a great night and I'll chat with you soon.

Love you to pieces!

Josh

Yikes! Actually, I'm kinda jealous because it means they are forming a relationship. Our two extra-small dogs will NOT tolerate the cats. The cats must live separated from the dogs for that reason. Luckily the layout of our house permits us to do that. So, at least your bunch is playing together.

He is totally adorable! I saw a Yorkie today. I take special notice now because of Galileo. Before that, I have to admit I never noticed Yorkies especially. Gary was responsbile for our two smallest dogs, and I would not have chosen that breed but now I love them! They smell like Fritos!

Oh my, that must have been scary. How is he doing with the housebreaking? are you finally getting that under control?

In fairness, honestly it takes a long time to house train a dog. And even when you get there, you may have only 85% success.

How did it get to be this late -- trying to get this sent before the day is gone, wishing Alan the best on his day!
