Our Fourth of July (Plus)

Hey, Bloggy Friends!

It's a two-fer Saturday! That doesn't really flow does it... Anyways, sorry for the bloggy overload today, but as I mentioned, I am trying to cram a few things in before my vacation begins.

Last night was our very first Fourth of July in Philadelphia! We spent most of our afternoon preparing for the arrival of our guests, and then grilling some tofu dogs for dinner before heading downtown for the festivities. I was anticipating quite a celebration in the city where Independence was founded, but that wasn't exactly what went down. I was surprised to find a very mellow observance of the holiday. Perhaps it was the rain, but there just wasn't a lot going on. There was a free John Legend concert on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum, and a pretty impressive fireworks display, but I remember more of a fanfare in San Francisco than what I saw here. I'm not disappointed, though, we had a great night. My friend Tim invited us, along with a few other friends, over to his place for drinks and games. We played a lively round of pop-culture trivial pursuit before heading to a local bar for a change of scene. When it came time for the fireworks we rushed back to Tim's rooftop deck and watched from under our umbrellas. Unfortunately, one of the skyscrapers was obstructing our view, but we got the gist of it. I'm not a huge fireworks fan, anyway.

I hope you all had a nice night, too! I put together a video of pictures of our evening, and I decided to include my official endorsement for Barack Obama. Last night as we walked through Rittenhouse Square to get to Tim's, we passed a lady I volunteered with on the Hillary campaign. It was the first time we've seen each other since the unfortunate defeat, so I asked her if she had decided to vote for Obama. She said "NO!" I gave her a shocked look at first, but decided not to press it. I didn't want to ruffle any feathers on the fourth of july! Hopefully she'll see my video and changer her mind. Goodness gracious!

Have a great night, Bloggy Friends. I miss ya'll!

Love, Josh

Great video. Sounds like a fun 4th!! I too would have imagined that Philly would be big on celebration.

I love the Obama shirt... as a matter of fact, I was looking online for a fun one earlier this morning.

Hopefully the disappointed Hillary supporters will come around to Obama. If you supported Hillary, it doesnt make sense to vote for someone with a totally different platform (McCain).

This was a really good video and you look really cute in it. The best part was around 1:11, where you were being sad about Hillary.

I just don't do politics (or golf). You'll find any kind of fallout reaction, and yes I think some Hillary poeple will hate Obama. Whatever.

You are SO black! (Reading the quote you put at the top of the Bloggy page.)
