Hi Bloggy Friends! I'm back from my trip to KY. Are you still here? I hope so. I sure have missed you, but it has been nice to spend a few weeks away from the computer.
I had an awesome time back home, spending time with my family and friends. I hope you had a great holiday as well. I have TONS of videos and I'm not sure what to do with them all. Stay tuned to see how all that turns out.
I love you and I can't wait to catch up again. Have a great weekend and an AWESOME New Year!!!!!! 2008 Baby!!
Let's all give a shout-out to Mimi Correll who's holding it up in Fort Worth, Texas this week!!! Holla, Mimi!!!!! Show 'em what a true diva is all about! I wish I were there to hold it up with ya, Gurl. We'll have to start making all your work trips turn into Diva Trips!!!!!!!!
Hi, Bloggy Friends. I hope you are having a fantastic afternoon. I know that all of you are just counting down the days until Santa comes. What are you getting for Christmas???? I hope it's the best one ever.
My brother and sister are here and we are having a fabulous time. I'm actually really drunk right now. I know, I'm a terrible role model. We just came back from some karaoke action in Center City. We had an awesome time and totally rocked it out with some Loretta Lynn, Dixie Chicks, Shania Twain and Mary J. Blige!!!! Speaking of Mary J. Blige, her new album came out today. Her new song "Fine" is tha bomb!!!
I'm so happy to have my brother and sister here, it is definitely a very special time for me.
I have been getting lots of videos, but haven't had a great deal of time to sit down and do any editing and all that. I guess everyone is busy at the holidays, so it's understandable. Stay tuned for some fun stuff in the very near future - including another Road Trip to Kentucky. We're all going to be driving back in our little car, so there's no telling what will be going on! They better behave!
Tomorrow we are taking a bus to New York City. This will be Derek and Alex's very first time there!! I'm so excited to take them, and I hope I don't have a hangover. Ugh!
I love you all and hope you are having an awesome week before Christmas. Remember that the true meaning is not the gifts and how much money you spend - it's the honest amount of time and thoughts you give to others! That goes for everyday of the year though, so holla back!!
Hi Bloggy Friends! I know you guys are so excited that it's Friday! I know I am. So, let's just cut to the chase!
I recently got a job as a Box Office Associate at the Philadelphia Theatre Company. The PTC is one of the oldest theatre companies in Philadelphia, but has recently built a brand-spanking new theater right in the heart of S. Broad St., on the Avenue of the Arts. I was so excited to be offered the job. I work with a fantastic, fun group of people and it feels great to be involved in some aspect of theater again. I have access to great shows not only through our company but all throughout the city. It's very exciting for me.
I will begin school in January, but plan to keep this as a part-time position. I feel like it's a great opportunity for me to meet other performance-minded individuals in Philadelphia.
Todays video is a little romp around my new workplace. I hope you enjoy seeing it and meeting a few of my coworkers!
On a side note - I took a recommendation from Bloggy Friend Bill recently and watched the holiday movie "The Family Stone." I really loved it and I want to follow in his footsteps and recommend it to all of you! It stars Diane Keaton, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Luke Wilson among others. It is a warm-hearted flick that will make you laugh, cry and feel all warm in time for the holidays! Check it out, Bloggy Friends!!
Have a fantastic weekend. I am so excited to pick my brother up from the airport tomorrow!
Hi, Bloggy Friends. I thought I would switch things up a bit and change the layout of my page. Do you like it??
I hope you're having a great day. I am excited because today is my Friday and I have a lot to look forward to over the next few days. On Saturday my brother, Derek, is flying in from Seattle and on Monday my sister, Alexandra, is flying in from Kentucky! It's going to be so great having them with me for a week before we head home for Christmas!
I'm not sure what we'll do for the week. Probably a lot of tourist stuff, since I haven't had an opportunity to do most of those things. We are also planning to take a day trip to NYC. Neither Derek or Alex have been there - so it should be lots of fun!
I'm going to run for now, just thought I'd drop by and say hello. I hope your holiday season is going well and that you have most of your shopping finished. Do you guys notice that Christmas feels less and less like Christmas every year?? I try listening to Christmas music and getting in the spirit, and it works sometimes, but it definitely wavers in and out on a daily basis. I better keep my spirit up, or Santa will leave all my goodies at the North Pole!!! I hope he can find us this year in Philadelphia!
Good Wednesday, Bloggy Friends. Are you having a good one today?? Mine is off to a good start, except for feeling rather sleepy at my work desk.
Enough of that nonsense, let's move on to what's really important...
As I told you before, Alan and I made the two-hour trek to Wilkes-Barre to see Chelsea Handler perform her stand-up routine on Saturday. Wilkes-Barre was a small city, with not a lot going on. The theater she performed in, The Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, however, was immaculate. It was a really classy, beautiful place. We sat down next to another couple, from Lancaster, PA, who turned out to be really awesome. They were both named Ryan and had been together for nearly nine years! Before the show we gabbed and laughed about recent episodes of Chelsea Lately, as well as other current pop culture phenomenons.
Before long the curtain came up on the opening act, Marla Shultz. She was a funny, Italian lady with a dirty mouth! She kind of reminded me of another favorite, Joy Behar. When her schpill was up Chelsea came on stage to a thunderous, Pennsylvanian applause. She looked great and was expectedly hilarious. Her routine was a little different than she is on TV. She didn't talk as much about celebrities, but different experiences she has had in life as a jew, a single woman and a devout masturbator. She was great and I suggest you go see her if she comes to a town near you.
When the show was over I wanted to meet her. Luckily, one of the Ryan's did too and we totally kept coaxing one another until we found the backdoor where she would be exiting. We waited outside for a minute, then her bodyguard came out. We asked if we could meet her and he said yes, as soon as she finished dropping a shadoobie in the backstage bathroom. When that was all over, and she cleaned her peekachoo, her big Escalade pulled up outside and she came strolling out to greet us. Up close she was really so beautiful and tiny. She had her hair pulled back and she smelled like a dream come true. If you can't tell, Bloggy Friends, I have developed a mini-crush! She haggled and cussed with us for a minute, and posed for a few snapshots. She was really nice and really gracious.
Unfortunately, I didn't get any video footage of our meeting, but I do share the pictures and events of the rest of the evening in today's bloggy video.
I love you all and hope you have a great Wednesday. I am feeling more awake already!
Love, Josh
P.S. There is some dirty language in the video, so parents and faint of heart beware!!
Happy Monday, Bloggy Friends. As always, I hope your week is off to a great start. I have a lot to look forward to this week, namely the fact that Derek (my brother) is coming to visit on Saturday!!!!!!!! Can't wait, Bitch!
For the past few weeks I have been on cloud nine. Why, you ask? Because we have two new kittens! We have been wanting a pet for a while now. At first we wanted a puppy, but thought that with school coming up, work and the fast approaching holidays, right now wouldn't be the best time to begin training one. So we decided on two kittens!
We had our eye out for a while, but one day came across an ad for two kittens at a local pet shelter called Susan's Cats & Kittens. This lady, who lives in Churchville, has turned her home into a cat rescue. When we arrived it didn't take a split second to know that these two kittens were the ones we wanted!
They are so cute, so playful and bring so much joy into our lives. Each time I think of them throughout the day, it brings a smile to my face. I think a smile is so important! They took to our home immediately and pretty much act like they own the place at this point! I love them so much and think you will too, once you see today's video!
Have a great rest of the day. We had a blast on Saturday night seeing Chelsea Handler. Stay tuned for some footage on that wild and crazy night!!!
Hi Bloggy Friends. Are ya'll having a nice Thursday? I hope! I don't want to wish time away, but only one more day till FRIDAY!!!
I am especially excited about this upcoming weekend because last night we got tickets to see one of my new favorite people - Chelsea Handler!
Being new to cable, I only recently started watching shows on networks such as E!, BRAVO, Oxygen, etc... One evening, as I was flipping through my new favorite channels, I came across a show called Chelsea Lately. It comes on around 11:30 pm on E!, which is a little past my bedtime, so I DVR it and watch in the morning before work. The host is named Chelsea Handler and she has a vertically challenged, mexican sidekick named Chuy. The half-hour long show showcases a roundtable of various television personalities discussing entertainment news, celebrity interviews and goofy sketches that keep me in stitches. A good gut-laugh is a great way to start the morning!
Besides being a host of this show, she is a comedian with a touring act that I am going to see this weekend in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Wilkes-Barre is about two hours outside of Philadelphia. I am looking forward to seeing her live and to get out of Philly to see what else Pennsylvania has to offer. I'll try my best to get a little bloggy video of the evening festivities!
Check Chelsea out if you haven't already. Let me know what you think!
Hello Bloggy Friends! I hope you're having a great Wednesday.
So, I have learned over the years that the greatest gift we humans can give one another, in this life, is a little piece of our personal time. To me there is no greater gift than one that says "I took time out of my day to think of you, and this is what came of it."
Yesterday I received such a gift and I want to share it with all of you today!
Some of you may have already seen the comment Bloggy Friend Bill left on my birthday post, and the video link he sent along with it. I didn't actually see it until yesterday morning but when i did I must say it completely made my whole day! I felt like I had my own E! True Hollywood Story!! Bill was one of my original Bloggy Friends. I always look forward to the comments and feedback he leaves on my posts and have enjoyed getting to know him through email and the sharing of various videos and such. We have a lot of the same interests, and seem to have a very similar sense of humor. Let's face it, he's a flat out silly bitch! He has a serious side too, however, as is evident in some of his masterfully made videos on YOUTUBE. You will find that he has quite a colorful, interesting history.
The sign of a true artist is one who can help you to experience a whole gamut of emotions. When watching this video I laughed, I almost nearly thought about crying, I got chills, I was inspired, flattered and quite frankly I farted.
Thank you so much, Bill, for the video. It was so great. I hope it's ok that I post it here for all the other Bloggy Friends to see.
Hey Bloggy Friends! Today's Time-Warp Tuesday is a rare and special treat. Recently my friend Eddie, from high school, posted pictures he had of us in high school on his facebook page. The year was 1994 or 95 and I was 14 or 15 years old! It was a total blast from the past to look at the pictures and realize how much I have changed over the years, and to understand what a long history of friendship I have with these particular people.
I made a video collage of the pictures and included a few pictures from our most recent get together in the Spring of 2006. You will recognize my brother, Derek, in one picture and meet a few more friends of mine that you have never seen before.
We are all still great friends, and we try to keep in touch as much as possible. I'll be seeing them at Christmas time and I can't wait!
Enjoy my video and I hope you all have a great day!
Love, Josh
P.S. Thank you all very much for your kind birthday wishes. It was truly a great day!
Good Monday, Bloggy Friends!! It is a special day for me, because it is the anniversary of the day I was born! Thankfully, I have the day off so that I can enjoy myself and relax like a good birthday boy should! I don't have any huge plans, except maybe to go out to dinner tonight. One thing I must have on my birthday this year is a big ol' piece of carrot cake!! I love carrot cake, Bloggy Friend, and I don't mean that boxed Betty Crocker kind with the flavored carrot pieces!!! For my birthday gift, Alan got me a huge closet for my dressing room! I have been wanting it for a while, since I have such an un-diva-ly small amount of closet space available. I am so excited about it. I will surely show you in an upcoming Bloggy segment!
Just for a little history. I was born early on December 3rd in 1978. My young parents were named Bruce and Kim Middleton. It was a trying day because there were complications, and the doctors actually thought I may not make it, but I pulled through! I lived all my early life in Lancaster, KY until I got the the nerve to fly away and experience the world on my own terms! I guess that's kind of how I ended up here today. I have a lot to look back and be thankful for. Thanks to all of you who have contributed to my life in such a positive way. I truly feel blessed.
So, I do have a Bloggy Video today that doesn't pertain to my birthday. The day after Thanksgiving, like I told you before, I went to meet Alan's aunt and uncle. At first I was a little nervous, but those feelings quickly subsided as soon as I met them. I had such a great night. They are such a cultured, intelligent, liberal couple that embraced us with open arms. They have lived here in Philadelphia for ten years. We started the afternoon meeting Alan's aunt at the Reading Terminal Market in Center City. It is a really neat place that I am anxious to return to at more of a leisurely pace. Later, we went to their home, where his uncle was awaiting us with a nice bottle of good ol' Kentucky whiskey! I'm usually not a whiskey drinker, but as a proud Kentuckian, I wouldn't dare pass up an offer such as that! We chatted about anything and everything under the sun until we were served the most delicious dinner, that included the most tender wild salmon I have ever eaten. It was the most enjoyable of evenings! I think it made Alan feel good to take that step, in coming out, to his family. They both warned us, however, about his mother! Bless her heart, I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it!
I didn't get too much of them in the video, but I did film a little. One interesting tidbit is about Alan's uncle, Lou. Monica and her runner friends will appreciate that they were both hardcore runners as well. They ran marathons all over the world and took it very seriously. Lou even helped run the famous burning torch across America at the 1984 Olympic ceremony. The torch that he carried is on display in his home, and I get a little shot of it towards the end! It was really neat to see that. He is proudly featured in the book One With The Flame by Mickey Herskowitz
Anyways, have a fantastic start of the week, Bloggy Friends. I hope you had a great weekend.
