Monday, Monday Bloggy Friends.

How is everyone today? I hope you're all geared up for a fantastic week. I still have one week and one day of vacation left, and I'm loving every minute of it! It's such a beautiful day today. The sun is shining so bright, and it's warm enough to keep the heat from coming on. I haven't heard it kick on once today. If this is what winter is like in Philadelphia, I'll take it! Before I moved here I was so frightened by the prospect of winter being as brutal as it was in Chicago, or like the stories I had heard of nasty winters in New York City, but alas, it is not! Should I bite my tongue? I hope not. This afternoon I watched another old movies, "In the Good Old Summertime," starring Judy Garland. It's a cheerful love story that showcases many of Judy's impeccable talents. She sings, she dances and she's beautiful. I really liked it. I also made a delicious juice today, ruby red grapefruit and blackberry. Yum!

Did any of you catch the Golden Globes last night? From the comments you left it didn't sound like many of you would be watching. We recorded them on the DVR so we could avoid the commercials and the long, boring gratitude speeches. For the most part they went by pretty smoothly. The Golden Globes are much less formal than the Oscars. The atmosphere seems very cozy. In the audience you see the stars hob-nobbing with one another as they sip their champagne. Some of them seem to get down-right sauced! I don't really have any stand-out moments to report on. I was happy to see "Slumdog Millionaire" pick up several awards. The cast and crew seemed so genuinely grateful. I was also thrilled that Kate Winslet won two awards. She won Best Actress for "Revolutionary Road," and Best Supporting Actress in "The Reader." I can't wait to see them both. I love her. As any good gay would say, I also enjoyed seeing what the ladies were wearing last night. I noticed a definite "white" theme. In a lot of the gowns I saw many variations on white, such as cream, vanilla, pearl and any other shade of white you could come up with. I thought most of them looked lovely. Tom Cruise also looked very handsome. He's looking a lot better lately. I like him.

Newest Top Model: Super-Sized Diva

I don't watch a huge amount of television, but there are a few shows I never miss. America's Next Top Model is one of them, because it reminds me so much of myself. (wink) Last night was the season finale, and the girl I have been rooting for took home the prize. The winner, Whitney, is the very first "plus-sized" model to ever win the competition. I think she is so beautiful, and she consistently brought the fierceness (did I say that?) to every episode. Congratulations, Gurl. Click HERE to find a gallery of Whitney's model portfolio.

Newest Whitney Updates!

I read some exciting news today on People.Com. Whitney hasn't performed for many years, due to the tumultuous life she was leading, Last night, however, the hiatus came to an end when she performed for the Caudwell Children Legends Ball in London. According to sources at People, Whitney "both looked and sounded amazing."

She reportedly same some of her greatest hits, such as "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," "I Will Always Love You," "The Greatest Love of All," and "Saving All My Love for You."

I wish I was there! This is all set to coincide with her big comeback later this year!

Weekend Fun!

Hello.Hey, Bloggy Friends!

How are ya today? I hope you've had a great weekend. It has been very sunny and nice in Philadelphia over the past week. I love this warm weather. It was nice when this weekend finally rolled around, because things at school are really starting to pick up for the last time before classes end on May 5. I have a ton of papers and assignments due in a short period of time, so don't be surprised if you don't hear much from me over the coming weeks. Just imagine me knee deep in text books and send a special blessing my way!

We had a fantastic weekend. On Saturday Alan and I met up with his aunt Jude to see the current play at the Philadelphia Theatre Company, Third by Wendy Wasserstein. It was such a wonderfully written, sweet show. This is actually the last play ever written by Wasserstein, she passed away less than two years ago after a long battle with breast cancer. You may recognize the names of some of her other plays, such as An American Daughter and The Heidi Chronicles. We all loved it very much. If you have a chance to see this show, or another by Wendy Wasserstein, I highly suggest you get a ticket.

After the show the three of us strolled around Center City for a while before we went back to Jude's home for dinner. Waiting for us there was her always humorous husband, Lou. Throughout the course of the evening we chatted over wine and snacked on hors devours before finally enjoying one of the very best meals I have had in Philadelphia thus far. Jude is a fantastic cook, and I'm not just saying that because she may be reading! She confesses that cooking is one of her favorite pastimes. I can tell that she sees it as a form of artistic expression because the presentation was magnificent and the blending of tastes was out of this world delicious! She served us a whole fish (trout seasoned with rosemary, parsley, lemon and garlic), steamed asparagus, new potatoes and a scrumptious side salad of mixed greens. We were then served delicious tarts, from a local bakery, for dessert. Bloggy Friends, it was all so good. I hope you have someone in your lives who can cook like this for you from time to time. Thanks, Jude! There's nothing like a homecooked meal.

Today we haven't done much but take care of a few errands like shopping for groceries and taking out the garbage. It has been nice to lay around and relax before we start our weeks over again tomorrow. Alan worked a little in the backyard. He has been pulling weeds and cleaning it up to get ready for the summer. It is so nice to have a porch and a yard to lounge in! Perhaps we'll plant a bush or some flowers to admire during the warm months. I did watch about an hour of the Papal Mass today. I found it fascinating. I'm just amazed at the amount of grandeur and ceremony that goes into such an occasion. I am not Catholic so I don't really understand the importance of having the Pope visit America. There must be something huge about it, though, there were over 50,000 people packed into Yankee stadium. I was just intrigued by the mixture of spirituality and apparent celebrity that goes along with being the Pope. He's a diva!

Well, I guess I'll run for now. I hope you guys have a fantastic start to the new week. Luckily I'll be off of work over the next few weeks because this weekend was the closing for Third. I'll start back again when the next show begins. It's a blessing to have this time off during the last few weeks of school and finals. I'll talk to you soon!

Funny Hillary

Did you guys see Hillary on Jay Leno last night? She was so funny. I really enjoyed the segment. She seemed more comfortable and free-flowing than I have seen her in the past. I think it will be a positive thing if people see that she has a humorous, light-hearted side to her. I love her. Here's the video below in case you missed it! It's in two parts.

Whitney?

Hellohey, Bloggy Friends!

One day I will see Whitney and not only that - but one day I'll sing with her on stage! I have always envisioned myself singing one of her songs on a television broadcast, tribute special when I make it big and famous. Look out for that one! :)

She is currently in the studios making her highly anticipated comeback album, which is due out around Christmas. I'm sure I don't even have to tell you how excited I am for that!

In other diva news:


-Did you guys watch Dolly perform on American Idol last night? She wore a headset and I think that just screwed it up. She didn't know what to do with her hands except throw them around everywhere. She is always fabulous, though, and I love her. The contestants did a cover of "9 to 5," which was a little too campy and just plum atrocious!


-Mariah Carey hit number one again on the charts with her new single "Touch My Body!" This makes her 18th #1 single, which beats out Elvis' previous record! She is now two behind The Beatles and says that she will never compare herself to them or Elvis but "this is a big day for women and minorities." That's right Mimi, butter people up to ensure you hit #1 three more times to be the highest selling artist EVER! Congratulations!

-Whitney still holds the title of the highest selling soundtrack of all time for "The Bodyguard."
